If the species lasts long enough it might find that some cosmic ancestors geoengineered this entire planet for our continued survival and if they were looking at us at this period of time they'd probably be appalled at its mismanagement.

How did we go from that nascent realization of one species in the 80s and 90s to where we are now? Last 10 years we have seen a decline in human intellect, rise in nationalist and religious fervor, a propensity for wars and violence.
