WHOA! 14.2.2 has learned a driveway behavior it seems!

That's awesome. Mine will not learn my parking spot still. It pulls onto the left side of the driveway which is fine, but I need to be 3 car width to the right to plug in. It did it once and I was so excited, but never again.

Hmmmm. I don’t get it. It didn’t do anything new at my house either but it did the same new behavior at this address 2x in a row. 🤷‍♂️

14.2.1.25 did this for me last night, but only once I realized I could pick “charger” otherwise it pulls in nose first. 13.x would randomly back in less than 1/3 of the time. Hopefully we will be able to save preferences for locations

we need like a "learn to park" feature where we can do it manually and then save it. At least 5 would be good. drop off at condo front entrance and parks itself a particular way you like to park at home park on a certain side at your parents/friends house work dedicated spot

The only thing I can think of is that trash can at the entrance to the driveway wasn’t there today.

I have been waiting for it to learn how I park in my driveway... a sequence of pulling forward to a certain spot, then backing up to the charging unit in front of the garage door. Hoping this new version can do it!

I wish you would learn the back into my driveway. That way I could charge without taking over.

Yes, mine wouldn’t even pull in the driveway at first on the 13th but now it’ll bowl in this driveway, but I am getting it the back end because I hit the charger on the screen and it tells it to back in

My Beast knows to back into my garage (on FSD) every time I get groceries and put them in the bed of the truck and stops backing up most of the way in knowing I need room to lower the tailgate to get to the groceries!!

OMFG. Let us know if your CT backs in next time as well. If this really is a new capability with 14.2.2, then I am never ever touching the steering wheel again even for 0.01 miles backing in to my garage!!!

V14 builds usually try to pull in nose first. I need to back in to charge. Three times it has tried to back in. Twice when my wife wasn’t home but it tried to back in where she parks which doesn’t work well for getting out of both cars due to the size of my truck, and once when she was home but it backed in behind her car which blocks her in and also can’t charge there. I just wish we could choose how and where to park at any destination so it can learn our needs/preferences.

I am happy to see this but my guess is that it is just backing in now to all driveways depending on what we select for final destination? I would love to be wrong and have it remember things though.

I didn’t check what I had selected but it should have been whatever is default. When I got home it didn’t try and backup to my charger so the behavior is new for this house / address and not some blanket change.

That’s really cool. When is next delivery to that address? I hope it back in again. Using that logic though, I think our cars should ABSOLUTELY remember how/where to park at our homes in that case. I want my CT backed in on left side of driveway every night. I’d like the 3 in the garage.

It’s has!!!!! It’s 🤯🤯🤯 Other versions didn’t know what to do but now goes into the driveway! Now if it could park in the garage by itself that would be awesome. As that is just terrifying 😂

😬. I couldn’t repo the back in behavior today when I picked up the coolers. I think maybe the trash can at the entrance affected the decision making yesterday!?

I'd love my Y to turn around and back into the garage when I get home... but first it has to pick the right driveway. It's enticed by my neighbor's gravel one. Also, often wants to turn into the driveway of the abandoned house nearby. Spooky! 👻

I don’t think it’s learning your behaviour. It’s just something on the training base that changed. My car also started reversing inside my garage on 14.2.1.

Correct. Not learning on the fly but I do wonder if they have some sort of local cache they are testing that tells ego what to do at certain addresses?

The previous version also did this for me and backed into the garage It will depend on the destination options you pick

Previous versions never did this here. And it’s not my house.

It was not consistent. Sometimes it would pull into the garage nose first, others times it would pull into my neighbor's garage and once it reversed and pulled straight into my Garage. Very hard to predict what was going to happen.

Have you tried multiple times to confirm it is consistent? It always pulls nose-first, but once and only once it randomly backed in for me. This is on v14.2.1. The other problem I have is that it cuts through the corner and damages the grass, so I just park it myself.

In those two tests, did you remove the coolers, and was the truck still parked there?

I put the coolers there after the first attempt. They have nothing to do with it. 🤣

Fantastic. Can’t believe I’m sitting here hitting refresh on my *vehicle* hoping a software update would appear but this one really appeals to me. My wife hates backing in yet it’s necessary due to the charger location.

Mine finally figured out which house is mine today. The cul de sac creates confusion.

"Somehow"... "I always disengaged and backed in" The second quote is how they did it. Every disengagement is a flag for review. That's the genius behind this system and why I roll my eyes when people get upset that it's "only" supervised. Like, that's what makes it so good...

Ohhh man i really hope this happens all the time why would a Tesla not go backwards in a driveway. Always backwards!
