I agree. Colbert is making a cool $20 million a year. That’s a lot of money to hand a host who’s losing you $40 million a year. I’m not sure if Colbert gets fired tomorrow, but if CBS can find a cheaper replacement who renews interest in the show, I have no doubt they’ll make that call.

If so, Colbert will certainly still get paid per his contract. But those 200 employees? Most of them will get a pink slip. Colbert is a pretty brave guy, willing to risk the livelihoods of EVERYONE ELSE to take his stand.

All he will do is completely trash CBS and anyone else he seems fit for the next 10 months. He'll also use that time to build an audience that he'll take with him as he forms a Podcast. Eventually less viewers for CBS. Tucker was the example of being let go without a farewell tour, if you will.

Colbert never let me laugh, he has no humor , no talent at all, tired of seeing him.

Imagine you work in a department that has been underperforming and losing millions of dollars for years. You get called in to the main office, and your boss says, "look, this isn't really a good fit and we think it would be best to part ways once your contract is up." Now imagine if your first response was to walk around the company, run to social media, what ever, and trash talk your boss and company. I wouldn't be surprised if they fired him tomorrow, and it wouldn't be uncalled for if they did.

I don't know if it'll be that soon, but if this is how he's gonna behave for the rest of his run, I doubt he makes it to next May.

They could put endless videos of monkeys riding sheep and lose less money than Colbert's show for the next 10 months. It would be a far better use of resources to give the smug prick the heave ho now.

The more important story is that a multi-millionaire on air personality has no idea how a P&L works. Do these shows just not have profit projection meetings regularly with, "Hey, here's how were executing against the planned projections." Losing $40M per year, this should not have been a surprise.

What is the correct thing to do verses what @CBS will do often run counter to one another. They should remove Colbert from the show immediately. His show after being let go is indicative of what’s to come. And if ratings are as low and losses are high as they are now, the show will continue to go down in flames. Not an optimal way to enter a sale negotiation.

This is why O'Leary is considered a 'shark'. CBS should do exactly that. Fire him, today. Then tie his whiny a$$ up in payout litigation for 5 years and with legal fees depleting the amount Colbert walks actually walks away with.

The firing of Cobert is not cancel culture, it’s business culture. Losing money as a business unit within a corporation for multiple years is going to get you fired. If there was no year over year improvement then there could be shareholder liability as the corporation did not pursue actions to increase shareholder value.
