“Whoever obeys my teaching will never die.” (John 8:51)

The Catechism explains that eternal life begins even now through grace (CCC 1020–1022). Death becomes a passage, not an end. So, John 8:51 is a promise: Faithful obedience to Christ leads to eternal life, not the finality of spiritual death. It’s not a denial of physical death, it’s the triumph over it.
