The first eyeglasses were believed to have been made in the late 13th century, around the year 1286 in Italy. Early records suggest that these early glasses were made in Venice or Pisa, and they were primarily used to aid people with farsightedness (presbyopia). These early glasses consisted of convex lenses set in frames that could be held by hand or perched on the nose.

1.Prescription & Frame Selection: The process starts with an eye exam to determine your prescription. Once that’s done, the patient selects a frame for the lenses. 2.Lens Material Selection: Lenses can be made from plastic, polycarbonate, or high-index materials. The choice depends on the prescription and preferences for thickness and durability. 3.Lens Cutting: A blank lens is chosen based on the prescription, and a machine cuts the lens to match the frame shape. 4.Surfacing: The back of the lens is ground and polished to match the prescription, creating the necessary curvature for vision correction. 5.Coating & Treatments: Lenses may undergo additional treatments like anti-reflective coating, UV protection, or scratch resistance. 6.Fitting into Frames: The lenses are inserted into the chosen frame, either by heating plastic frames to expand them or tightening screws in metal frames. Inspection: The glasses are inspected to ensure they meet the prescription and are free from defects. 8.Adjustment & Delivery: The eyeglasses are adjusted to fit the wearer comfortably and delivered.
