The Duolingo framing works until you hit the part where the feedback loop for cooking is physical and delayed. The app earns retention at streak level, cooking earns it at the table. That gap between digital validation and real-world result is the design problem worth solving before the build starts.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think is very hard to convince people to pay a subscription for this kind of product. But, in this world, everything is hard, so it's worth pursuing IMO.

@kesslerrrx look at recime, it’s a great app for recipes but a lot of people can’t cook so i think it’s a good idea to make a learn to cook app

i’m using rork max to build apps and just screen recording + canva i’m testing ideas so i can build something in public next days

the hard part isn't teaching someone to cook, it's competing with the dopamine hit of ordering delivery in 2 taps. whoever cracks the habit loop wins.

I was ready to say I don't need this. ...Buuuut - that timeline at the bottom - if it shows (kind of like music/video editing software) which processes run in parallel; which before and after others; it could be really useful!

Bro Im a chef and researcher seriously give me the test flight link... Here's a problem when you cook you wash your hands frequently and it will be a pain in the ass to wipe that screen every single time so I'd add a live mode AI sees you doing it

Claude: Cooking — No. Cooking is physical. You can’t learn to dice an onion by tapping a screen. And recipes aren’t progressive — spaghetti aglio e olio doesn’t build on yesterday’s lesson. People will do 3 days and bounce. That screenshot looks fun but retention would be brutal
