I see both sides. It should be 50/50 but if the women or man was stay at home prior to the divorce they should be given time to get a job that pays enough for them to live. If one of them have been building their career for years while the other it taking care of everything at home they need to support the other to get back intto the work world.

This is not easy. In healthy relationships one becomes stay at home. This benefits both and You sort off fuck up your career. BUT, if can we have prenups we can have this planned out.

Stay at home wifes have to sacrifice their careers, thats the prerequisite of being able to stay at home lol The husband works on his career, so when the divorce does happen of course its fair to pay up.

The problem is typically women using child/ren as a weapon. The other problem is family courts, where equality means nothing. 50/50 no support, no alimony. Men shouldn’t be forced to maintain 2 separate households. Statistically, children are better off in single father homes.

50/50 sounds great, but not exactly feasible in most cases. The reality is one of the parents has to maintain a job with the flexibility to leave early/show up late/call out for a sick kid. Those jobs are usually low pay with no advancement potential.

Pearl just always seems like she hasn’t actually thought through her position. Logical if we’re trying to be fair in a situation where there is a child, a stay at home mother, and a father with a full time job it would depend on how they want to go about continuing to raise the child cooperatively. If the man makes enough to cover alimony and is happy to do so, so be it. If the mother is able to get a job and does then base the child support off the total percentage of income coming in and who has the majority of the custody time. But it starts to get a little more confusing when you start considering different circumstances people are in. If a man has been able to sustain a lifestyle where the wife has been staying at home, is caring for their child/home and has not been focusing on a career or skill or anything besides raising the child why would anyone expect them to immediately get a well paying job and cover 50%? It’s just illogical and unfair. Yes how much money is contributed by both is technically the same but the percentage of that person’s income that is being allocated to child support isn’t so it affects one party more. We just need to focus on what is actually equitable and is most beneficial to the child and what is least likely to cause financial or emotional stress on everyone involved.

I raised my two sons without any support. My X also spent very little time with them. I had them 95% of the time. The courts deemed that 50/50. I didn’t complain, I got to raise them by myself. Honestly, some of the best days of my life!

Some women understand The Offspring lyrics quite good. Some women are so delusional they think it is fair for a man to work full time two to three times per day just so she can fill up shopping cart few times per year or month.

Alimony shouldn’t be permanent. It should be a temporary thing if she was in fact a stay at home mother. 2-4 years I think is reasonable.
