My husband and I dealt with this for the last three years with my father in law. He was very mean and physically tried to stab his caregiver numerous times. We would take the phone away and somehow he’d sneak out, go to the neighbors and claim we were abusing him and use their phone to call 911 (he was on hospice and wasn’t supposed to be doing that). He was smart enough to go to the only neighbor who didn’t know the situation too, but had no clue what was going on otherwise. It’s such a hard thing to go thru and deal with, but it’s what we do for our family/elders 🥺😔

Dementia is so cruel that take all dignity away from you. I would try to make peace with her and try to find out if she has family to contact. It might work, It might not, being she is next door I would try to be friends to be able to check on her well being if there is no family

She can’t live by herself anymore. Her dementia has progressed majorly. She needs to be put into a facility. If not, it could be dangerous. She could wander away and forget where she is completely. This is not good., she can’t be alone anymore.
