Why are builders allowed to have “in house inspections”

In Australia one of our corrupt premiers introduced a policy forcing sellers to do their own inspection so the buyer doesn’t have to get one done She’s taking hard in the polls right now

Ivery been in construction for 25+ and trust me always get a 3rd party inspector. The builders get buddy to buddy with the regular city ones .and get away with crazy things. Get one that isnt on the builders payroll.

Home inspector here. It’s perfectly fine if the builder wants to bring in their own inspector; many local builders do it as part of their quality control But a buyer should never rely on it as an objective assessment of the property. Always bring your own inspector in.

Devil’s advocate: if I was a builder and an inspector sprayed water through my kitchen sink and damaged by cabinets instead of just looking to see if it was caulked I’d kick him in the balls

My dad called out the supervisor of my sisters house for poor construction quality and gave specific examples and the supervisor just replied “well your expected quality is higher than the standards we have” yeah he shouldn’t have said that while recorded.

There was probably 3 legit issues, exposed sewer, ground wire, and gap. But most is cosmetic, sure it needs to be addressed but it doesn’t make this crappy or poor built home.

Absolutely shit built. But this guy's got to be careful with some of the shit he does like shaking the island. I know it sounds fucked but im a licensed inspector like him but in another state and they can sue him for saying he damaged something even if its not the island

A real inspector would know that you NEVER turn on water/gas/electric that is shut off. It might be shut off for a reason. You either get the builder to turn it on or document as “unable to verify”. The inspector could be liable for damages caused by things they turn on.

Honestly this guy sucks as an inspector pointing out missing caulking and chipped paint and missing paint. Realtors will Avoid this guy like the plague
