Why are cats so kind and gentle with children?

i really want my future kid to meet panda before he eventually passes away 🥹

They like the smell & soft skin of babies. And realize they are babies.

I always wondered why the ‘cats will steal a babies breath’ (suffocate) myth was popular and perpetuated for years when they are gentle with children 🤔 I need to research

I think it's because that cats communally raise kittens, and they recognise that small children are "human kittens"- thus they have a sense of duty to help. In their own way, that is.
