Why are NFL teams and draft evaluators so obsessed with age, even when it comes to the QB position? On the pod @nate_tice and I discussed how it affects the evaluation process. 🎧: 📺:

Nate brings up an interesting question here: If Tyler Shough was turning 22 instead of 26, how high would he go?

Train your shooters on the same technology the top coaches use for player evaluation. #MakeMoreShots #WinMoreGames

@Nate_Tice younger = longer career possibly. not hard

@Nate_Tice Actually we are argue it’s not really about that for QBs.

@Nate_Tice Feel like with older drafted QBs there’s more pressure for them to come in and start right away to get return on investment. Whereas when you draft a younger starter, there’s no pressure. They can sit for a year or maybe even longer and it’s no problem.

@Nate_Tice Such a short window not a enough dressing

@Nate_Tice I'm trying to think of who the QB in recent history would be that was oldest when they were drafted and went on to have success. The one that sticks out that didn't go well was Brandon Weeden.

@Nate_Tice Chiefs (for the most part) always draft 21 year olds with their high picks. That way their 2nd contracts hit at 25ish as well. When they are old going into their 2nd contracts (Sneed)....they don't resign them.

@Nate_Tice Really evaluating overall maturity. More mature doesn’t equal older.

@Nate_Tice Let's not forget about the team they go to football is as you know more than a one good player sport!!!!

@Nate_Tice I would prefer to not have 25 year old rookies if it’s not a QB
