1.Because not every single sighting is anomalous. Some are just misidentifications. 2. Some people are better than identifying things then others. The 'debunkers' (as you call them) can help people identify things that others weren't able to identify initially.

They satisfy a psychological need

because its not real skeptism, its intellectually dishonest strategic opposition and we are the morons and suckers continuing to engage with it... There are plenty of real, intellectually honest skeptics that we could focus our attention on....

It's an ideological objection at its core. At no point will they concede even a millimeter of ground regardless of mounting evidence.

Honestly because UAP and unidentified craft doesn’t mean ET or aliens. They admit there are things they aren’t sure of ( at least that’s what they are saying publicly) but it doesn’t equate to aliens.

It's a two part government disinformation program. 1. Flood the zone with lots and lots of false sightings, that are easily "debunked" to cloud the real ones. 2. Have the "debunkers" point out the fake ones, while strongly implying that this means they are all fake. That doesn't mean every fake sighting and every debunker is part of a disinformation campaign. But a whole lot of them are.
