Why Astro Bot should win GOTY

FF7 Rebirth's time. Square constantly gets shafted. A massive game, great characters, incredible action, ambitious in a way games haven't been since the 90s.

I'm privy to agreeing. My review here. Only the second 10/10 I've given out this gen to an original new release.

I have no idea how good this specific game is or isn't, but I'd argue GotY should do more than just be a fun game experience. It should imho reflect what is unique about the medium and pushes it forward in. Tons of games every year are fun.

But you haven’t played all the GOTY candidates.

If any PlayStation IP should win GOTY it’s Helldivers 2. Astro does not do enough to differentiate itself from any other platformer. It’s cute but that’s not enough to win GOTY. Helldivers 2 had a bigger impact.
