Why Bitcoin should never have worked

Bitcoin is about to surge.

Most of why it worked is unglamorous. People kept running the software through years when there was no price to brag about, and boring maintenance outlasted every clever argument against it.

On paper it shouldn't have. DigiCash went bankrupt, e-gold got shut down, b-money never launched. Bitcoin had no company to sue, no server to raid, and proof of work made following the rules pay more than cheating.

Bitcoin shouldn't have worked by any orthodox economics measure. No issuer, no legal tender status, no enforcement mechanism. What it had was a coordination problem solved at the protocol level. The things that were supposed to make it fail turned out to be the design.

Every reason it shouldn't have worked is a reason I keep stacking anyway.

Should never have worked, and yet it keeps knocking out a block every ten minutes

It shouldnt have but it did and thats the whole story

그래서 더 신기한 자산 같아요. 수많은 사망 선고를 다 견뎀냈으니까요.
