Why Caleb Williams' completion percentage really doesn't worry me much

RTing sight unseen. Start Kyle Orton is a good follow

Great stuff. I also broke down his completion % in depth here and why it's somewhat misleading in context and with historical comps

“Caleb ranks 20th in every stat I named. That’s why I’m not worried.”

The next Ben Simmons out there on the water

Don’t put that on me

The solak way 1) change the definition and value of bad stat 2) choose a different one to replace it that does support your biases 3) pretend like that’s the end all be all U nerds were supposed to use stats to bring objectivity to analysis. Instead u twist it to justify biases

I think you have truly found your niche, Ben Solak

“Missing away from coverage” is the nicest way anyone has ever worded missing a receiver.

Call it Ben… mvp candidate this yr

agreed

@jermaine611 This is delusional Ben

@BenjaminSolak Packers fan

so basically you're saying he's actually bad at a certain stat, but let me find another random stat that he's decent at to try and take away from the stat he's ACTUALLY bad at lol He has a 58.1 completion %... thats all that needs to be said lmao

Dumb Bears fans are gonna eat this up

Solak is unreal, this is peak content 🤣 but yes, completion percentage matters, but Caleb is an exception. MVP year inbound.

Fixing completion percentage to mean keeping up with your offense is a totally incomplete definition that ignores things like down to down arm accuracy and field vision, which are another two issues Caleb has with his game

2.5 to 4 seconds? That's an eternity. He had the #1 time to throw & #1 most blitzed. So he had the most time vs the least defenders in coverage, and STILL struggled to get the ball out accurately. Learning to read defense AND improving accuracy AND improving timing is not easy

ben can you do some kayak bets this fall

Calm edits are the future 🫡

Super weird... We got to EPA/play is a great stat to evaluate QBs... Then we had to cut the top of the chart off because Caleb was down at 14. I wonder who lives near the top of those EPA/play charts? 🤔

This series can be called terrible takes on the lake!

imagine being into "Advanced Stats" but thinking Completetion percentage really matters LMFAO The average NFL game has 30 passes. A 60% CMP % and a 70% CMP % is a difference between of 3 Completions per game It's quite possibly the dumbest statistic to focus on to evaluate winning QBs 😂

The word IF was used a lot in this video

When you need a first down, a big play, etc… Caleb makes them. He keeps you alive. He makes big time throws. He runs for first down and avoids sacks. His teammates love him. I’ll deal with him missing some swing passes if he keeps doing the aforementioned things.

Morons dont know if Caleb just took more sacks & threw more ints then his com% would be 65% caleb avoids negative plays at a high rate, throws the ball away, which lowers his comp% Caleb generates top 10 QB production (yards & TDs) Morons want less production/higher comp %

When Williams is off target it’s okay but when it’s Bo Nix he’s complete ass.

Caleb Williams is on a predictable spiral downward that will continue. Why? Because he’s become more and more comfortable being himself and he doesn’t think anything is wrong because of all the excuses people make for him.

It also seems like off-target% // on-target% is relatively volatile year-over-year. A lot of bottom 10 to top 10 and back again when you eyeball it (Im not good enough at math to do my own regression analysis).

I’m getting so upset watching you just rattle off perfect stats down to the decimals with only a fishing pole and no notes/phone

I love the randomness of your content

@JAA2027 More of this while fishing

Ben on in-rhythm dropback epa/p do you have the % of dropbacks w/ a TTT in that time bucket and where that ranks league-wide? (Not saying this is definitely the case but wondering if it’s similar to Hurts MOF w/ efficiency high because usage is low - only thrown when wide open)

You know ball brother. These box score merchants are still so focused on completion % but have zero understanding of what they are actually watching. Caleb will be one of the best QBs in the NFL very soon.

BREAKING: CALEB WILLIAMS IS THE ONLY QUARTERBACK TO EVER THROW THE BALL AWAY 🤯🤯🤯

Lunkerville population: Solak

I have eyes Ben. All the advanced stats are cool but what I see is an inaccurate player who struggles to play on time and makes some jaw dropping throws a couple times a game. Mitch Trubisky would have won 11 games on that roster with Johnson.

In almost every adjusted completion % category he was almost dead last…he isn’t an accurate QB no matter how you look at it
