He is right. When my son was about 8, he was playing his Atari, he was at it for hours!! I told him it was time to get ready for dinner, when he stood up, he had pissed his pants!! WTF? I took it, put it up for 6 months! GROUNDED! Taught him a lesson.

I had a very similar conversation with a friend about my kids bed time. My response was "You know you're the dad." He was shocked.

I've heard this so many times from other parents. They aren't doing their kids any favors. They're condemning them to a miserable life by not teaching respect and responsibility. The parents don't respect the kids either by not guiding and teaching them.

Absolutely! Such a good post. We had pretty responsible children, all home educated. None were allowed to get a phone or driver's license until they were 18. No internet either. Books only. All of them are awesome adults today. Dont let your children boss you around.

My 3 boys knew I was a hard on them. My philosophy was, I have you for 18 years to teach you responsibility, honesty, integrity. In an And a decent work ethic. Anything you do after 18 years old is on them.

In the 80s when I was raising my children every time I would ask them to do something they would say wait till commercial because they were watching TV.. After I had heard that about a dozen times, I waited till they were at school and then I called the TV repair man up the road from our house and said come and get this TV. They went an entire school year without a TV. And to be honest, I wish I had never put it back in, but they never told me to wait till commercial anymore.

Yeah, I made the same exact point on one of the videos on the Gen X Tallas channel, and the General actually answer my comment and made a great point: we Gen X's were the first generation in which the government stuck its nose in the way we raise our children and that changed everything.

I agree, it's the parents, they are afraid to discipline their children.

This is a prime example of spare the rod spoil the child & God bless this gentleman & everyone getting this out there to wake up and encourage other parents to do what is best for there children 🙏 Amen

You are absolutely right! My son was addicted to his Xbox. I told him homework had to be done 1st. Didn't respect my rules. I took a hammer and broke his Xbox and threw it in the garbage. Case closed!

Exactly! 100% agree! Be parents and enforce rules or you destroy your children for a lifetime!

💯 I see it everywhere. In my spouse’s family especially, they baby their kids, let them run the show. I can’t stand being around it. At the end of the day enabling only leads to bigger issues later in life.

Damn right!!! It’s the lack of parenting! My daughters are 30 and 32 now. They are fine, upstanding ladies with careers. One is married with 2 kids, and the other is engaged. We spanked them. We grounded them. We took away items they wanted back. They thank us!

Had a similar conversation with a friend who told me about a relatives 18 yr old kid who refuses to get a job & games all day. He was indulged by his parents his whole life.

Cell phones and social media has killed us as people.

Those who can't cannot because when they tried it, the kid threw a tantrum, screaming, tearing up the house, getting violent. Stayed in tantrum mode, bratty, mean, uncooperative for days, weeks- until the parents gave in. Then, the kids were total 👼🕊️. Parents: "Never again!"🫨

I always got comments like this about my kids… it’s sad so many parents don’t actually parent. It’s not rocket science. It’s parenting. So glad to see a dad parent.

We are homeschoolers. We meet up with other homeschool kids of all ages. Out of the last 9 years I have only seen one 12 year old looking at a phone while everyone else is hanging out or playing. The parents don’t look at their phone either and very few kids have video games.
