Yeah you do games reviews very well. If you ever do like videos dedicated to single games reviews I can see that being a thing for you.

Cheers o7 That is a something I might give a proper crack at later on

Flawed masterpiece 💯 Game world, parallel dimension concept, unique battle system, music.. all incredible. The storytelling is messy. Even if you’ve played Chrono Trigger it’s still messy lol, but at least then you get more of a satisfying payoff toward the end.

The story is a mess, but interesting when you do understand it. I like how it breaks the mold by having the big grand scheme actually be the work of a GOOD guy manipulating things in order to get the Lovecraftian abomination threatening all of spacetime killed.

I like Chrono Cross for its combat, aesthetics and music, but dear lord this game's story is a mess

Every single word spoken is true! And the main battle theme being just straight up weird.

Stop reading my mind and putting my opinions on video or I'm going to charge you rent.

I think tying it to Chrono Trigger helped sales but also gave people the wrong expectations. In the same way that if Rebirth was called Wacky Multiverse Mayhem and not Final Fantasy 7, people probably wouldn't hate it as much.

I like your videos you make very good points with you critics, i am curious what you think about a game i like a lot Xenogears.

Agreed, it's somewhat similar take to Majuular, he did the best review of Chrono Cross bar none

Worst battle music but still best jrpg or vid game OST. Crazy how bad the battle theme is but rest of tracks fucking slap

The song it makes you listen to the most, is the worst one in the game 💀

Its got a bloated roster and no difficulty at all but I still love cross. Best pre rendered backgrounds of the ps1 and a fantastic soundtrack in that game

Please play Chrono Trigger on stream soon!

Already have 🫡

Finally got to the Crono vs Lavos scene in the Ocean Palace and your reaction 😂😭

It hurts how accurate this was, and a joy hearing it form the RPG James Lipton

I’ve never been called the RPG James Lipton before, but I’ll take it XD

I'd generally agree with your thoughts here

1st game I ever played that had New Game+ it was fun and the huge roster really made replay the big selling point. The story was all over but a solid entry into PSX library. PSX is the RPG lovers system.

You hit the nail on the head when you mention that they kinda gave up on trying to explain the story and that it would've been far better if it wasn't connected to Chrono Trigger. That last one alone would've helped the game immensely.

Still waiting for Clanaki
Chrono Cross was the fist ever Square game I’ve ever disappointed in. The story was just so nonsensical and the many characters were just so shallow. Everything you feel playing FF12 I felt playing CC but I felt I had to finish it cause it had to get better but it never did.

The music in Chrono Cross is so amazing I love and I'm the biggest fan of Uematsu but Mitsuda just delivered a godlike OST, even loops song are incredible

Flawed? It's just a masterpiece. I don't know what it is you expect from games if you criticise both this and FF8 earlier.

Cross is good if considered a spin-off. As a sequel it fails and has awkward story choices. For instance it assumes all lead characters of Trigger died, except Robo (in a weird form) and Schala in a reincarnated form. It explicitly implies Lynx killed Lucca. Not ideal writing...

One of the best soundtracks of all time. Absolute timeless pieces like A Distant Promise and Radical Dreamers (vocalized)

I know this sounds crazy but what makes it hard for me to replay that game is the battle theme. Mitsuda is a musical genius decided to use such an abysmal battle track still bugs the hell out of me.

It’s the worst Normal Battle music in JRPG history 💀

It really is, I can’t think of a normal battle theme worse than that lol

That game was garbage

So part of the problem with Chrono Cross is that, in the west, we didn't get the middle story between Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross until recently with the re-release of Chrono Cross. And even then it doesn't help clear up parts of the story.

God Chrono Cross left me with unhealed trauma. I unlocked as many characters as I could and carefully set up almost everyone's Elemental Grids on my first playthrough, and when I beat the game I overwrote my save slot with the New Game + file and found out all the characters I carried over had empty Elemental Grids again and I just...never turned it back on after that.

I always think if I have to wiki search the plot of something I’m playing or played to understand what I just witnessed, it was poorly told. I’ve done the opposite too and wiki searched into the material to dive deeper but that’s a wide chasm from each side.

I think what really pissed a lot of people off about Chrono Cross and I’m sorry if this is spoilers but people it’s been out for a long time if you haven’t played it by now not my fault but how they use the original cast of Trigger as sacrifices for Cross story.

Game sucked, so boring, biggest downgrade from CT

It felt like a corridor game, but you got to really choose the speed you went and the players you brought with you for it. The battle system was fantastic though - really innovative and made you work for it.

I agree that it's a flawed masterpiece. It's a great game, great jrpg with beautiful OSTs certainly, and great combat with great mechanics. However, Chrono Cross touched something that should never be touched which is Chrono Trigger story and they made a mess out of that story.

I know this guy's family is disappointed in him.

How did this post possibly offend you? 💀

Yea it shouldn't have been a sequel. If it was it's on stand alone I think it would be more appreciated cause none of the world map or time traveling is really explored the same way as Chrono trigger and a brief cameo of some of the old cast shows up briefly.
