I'm just gonna say this about copper pipes. He's right about the bacteria, but the serious problem was constant leaks from frequent pipe breaks that always needed fixing.

You’ve probably seen one of these in a pool skimmer or pump. They’re full of copper and its true, it really does purify water. If you’re having trouble with algae, this is a good and simple tool.

Copper is antimicrobial and small amounts of copper are beneficial to the body. The rest is utter nonsense. The reason copper is being phased out in water piping is because CPVC plastic became much cheaper and easier to work with. Especially with that pex tubing where you dont have to mess with soldering and pressure fittings which have pissed me off on numerous occasions. Don't tighten them enough, it leaks. Tighten them to tight, it leaks. Slight tangent but super annoying. In order for copper to have an electrical charge, you must apply voltage to it. This is no different than iron, alluminum, steel etc.. Tossing a bunch of copper in a pool is not going to transfer electrical energy to people in said pool. Farmers put copper in the drinking water of their animals because it inhibits microbial growth making it safe to drink.

Actually lots of people use copper 90s in their pool pumps in Florida. I do and I have not bought chlorine in years saves me 500 a year in chlorine.

False. Copper is not a purifier; it is an algicide. Silver is a purifier.

Lead was removed. Copper was not. Home builders are cheap and profit is the ultimate goal, so low cost PEX is allowed. Copper is still allowed and is the preferred pipe at the main.

"Why was copper removed from homes" In the UK most houses are built out of brick and block, still with copper pipes for water and central heating. It would not surprise me if in the US they build lots with all plastic pipes for water and heating as so many of their homes are also built out of weetabix. Then they wonder with a puff of wind, why do they fall down? 😀 Same with door handles. All hospital door handles used to be made of brass which is antibacterial. Then some idiot replaced them with other material handles which transfer germs unless they are wiped down all day.

Who are you blaming because you choose to put some plastic pipes in your house instead of copper? Just hire a contractor to get it done, its not illegal

Now we got plastic pipes that leach hormone altering chemicals into our water supply

Here in Sweden I have never seen anything but copper pipes for fresh water in houses. What are they talking about?

I wonder about silver coins and the move against having them in circulation now… Pirates would throw some silver coins in their barrels of water to keep it from becoming stagnant.

Only issue is the copper pipes are sodered together with led which is toxic

Master plumber here. Been plumbing since I was a teenag in the 1990s. Copper piping wasn't "removed" by some shadow agency. Home builders gradually stopped using it due to cost. Cheaper plastic pipe systems were invented that were both lower in material cost and lower in labor cost to install. There was no secret conspiracy to "remove" copper pipes. The free market decided it was too expensive. You can go to home depot right now and buy copper pipe/ fittings and repipe your whole house with it. Hell, call me and I'll come do it for you. It'll be 15-20 grand but I'll certainly do it if you really want it.

As a project supervisor, I can say this is absolute bullshit . It's being "erased". Or "replaced" with something that costs 1/10th the cost. ITS ABOUT MONEY MONEY MORON . not some evil conspiracy. I'll prove it. Go buy and build your own home. You're free to choose PVC or copper

I wonder if this is where throwing a copper penny into water and making a wish comes from. Maybe the charge from the penny in the water can make wishes come true.

I put a 5gal bucket of water outdoors in an area where i feed the deer. No i do not hunt them anymore. I dropped a 1/4dia. coiled copper tube into it. Wow, the honey bees LOVE it! I added a few small branches at the top, so they have a way to climb out, if they slip in ♥

At first I was like "LMAO 1 trillion dollar industry?! 🤡" - So I went and looked it up. WTF! "Valued at over $54 billion globally, it supports roughly $1.1 trillion in downstream economic output by supplying critical inputs for water treatment, pharmaceuticals, and PVC plastics"

Two homes, one with copper, one with pex. Pex home has constant black mold in faucets, copper home NEVER has it.

I hang a small copper pipe with a piece of rope attached in the pool water, and it keeps the algae away. :)

Copper and platinum can be used to sterilise water through electrolysis, the copper makes the microbes shell permeable allowing the platinum to enter and destroy the cell. BTW you can still get microbes that will harm you living in copper pipe, Legionella is one for a start.

Copper is still widely used in construction. It's still the number 1 material for plumbers.

Have they removed all copper piping in the US.? I think the government are trying to kill you all by making you ill so you use the hospitals . Another thing, why don't Americans fly to Cuba for medical treatment instead of paying stupid amounts for insurance every month.?
