Why copper was removed from homes.

I'm just gonna say this about copper pipes. He's right about the bacteria, but the serious problem was constant leaks from frequent pipe breaks that always needed fixing.

The reason copper is being phased out in water piping is because CPVC plastic became much cheaper and easier to work with. Especially with that pex tubing where you dont have to mess with soldering and pressure fittings which have pissed me off on numerous occasions. Don't tighten them enough, it leaks. Tighten them to tight, it leaks. Slight tangent but super annoying. In order for copper to have an electrical charge, you must apply voltage to it. This is no different than iron, alluminum, steel etc.. Tossing a bunch of copper in a pool is not going to transfer electrical energy to people in said pool. Farmers put copper in the drinking water of their animals because it inhibits microbial growth making it safe to drink.

Actually lots of people use copper 90s in their pool pumps in Florida. I do and I have not bought chlorine in years saves me 500 a year in chlorine.

Lead was removed. Copper was not. Home builders are cheap and profit is the ultimate goal, so low cost PEX is allowed. Copper is still allowed and is the preferred pipe at the main.

It would not surprise me if in the US they build lots with all plastic pipes for water and heating as so many of their homes are also built out of weetabix. Then some idiot replaced them with other material handles which transfer germs unless they are wiped down all day.

Master plumber here. Been plumbing since I was a teenag in the 1990s. Copper piping wasn't "removed" by some shadow agency. Home builders gradually stopped using it due to cost. Cheaper plastic pipe systems were invented that were both lower in material cost and lower in labor cost to install. There was no secret conspiracy to "remove" copper pipes. The free market decided it was too expensive. You can go to home depot right now and buy copper pipe/ fittings and repipe your whole house with it. Hell, call me and I'll come do it for you. It'll be 15-20 grand but I'll certainly do it if you really want it.
