Why did Cartoon Network use this song
27 Kommentare

I forgot that japan really loves hanna barbera cartoons.

The song used in this commercial is Yashiro Aki's "Funauta," and Luckyman's song is a parody of Funauta. 八代亜紀 / 舟唄 @YouTubeより

They aired Luckyman for a while!

Apparently they didn't i think it was just music licensing

maybe luckyman aired on there

Apparently not i guess its a song licensing thing

I love the idea of Hannah Barbara anime.

Cartoon network Ikimasu!

There's a famous movie that pays homage to this song. This kind of video worldview. A masterpiece. #駅STATON Director: Furuhata Yasuo Starring: Takakura Ken , Baisho Chieko

I'm more interested in what kind of anime they're showing?

Probably had it on as background noise likely because they had it on the channel there like Minky Momo.

why not? Cartoon Network in Japan showed Japanese anime besides dubbed CN programming

Odd that in the 1990s you'd never see Hanna-Barbera cartoons reacts to snippets of anime seen on Toonami.

luckyman

What studio did the animation for this commercial? They must be really talented.

Because the song was sung by an enka artist Yashiro Aki traditionally at yatai and Izakaya you would normally hear enka music and I believe tottemo lucky man might have had reruns on Cartoon Networks /boomerang in Japan

I remember this commercial back in Japan!

Okay that's cool good night

まあ最初だけ聴いたら八代亜紀さんの歌にしか聴こえませんからねぇw

I love this CN bumper I remember finding this back in 2018 on YT

@LTwopin i just know you’re gonna absolutely love this one

ラッキーマンのイントロは、この曲の一部分を歌詞変えたものになる。歌っているのは同じ人。日本ではノスタルジーな飲み屋とかでよく聴く定番な歌。

cus it had showa popsong vibe. there was a genre called enka and that part of song was parody of enka.

@menorl0ko

OH THANK GOD I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE
