Why did hidden headlights disappear?

Hmm...

They were manufactured to disappear hence the name ‘hidden headlights’

When day running lights becaame a thing and it was more convenient to have a fixed fixture rather than a pneumatic piece.

Disappeared because of: 1. Manufacturing complexity 2. Reliability 3. Aerodynamics 4. Financial ( less cost effective ) These all above killed the real beauty of the design!

They figured out how to make contoured glass well and blend the headlights?

Not necessary, complications with motors and maintenance.

Because they malfunction all the time

Cuz they're one of the first things to break and need repair/replacement. Every car I ever had with this kind of thing always ended up with one or more of the headlights non-functional because it wouldn't open. Kind of like how power windows have the motors and bands break more often?

We traded pop-up headlights for 400 sensors and a screen the size of a laptop
