Makalu, Deputy Commandant ITBP, Anoop Kumar Negi says, "I am the team leader of the ITBP Mountaineering Expedition 2025 which was organised on Mt. Makalu and Mt. Annapurna...For the year 2025, ITBP had selected Mt. Makalu in Nepal, whose height is 8,485 metres and which is the fifth highest peak in the world and Mount Annapurna, whose height is 8,091 metres and which is the tenth highest peak in the world, for climbing. There were a total of 12 members for this expedition. It was flagged off from the headquarters on 21st March 2025, and on 24th, we reached Kathmandu. From there, a team went for Mt. Raphael Tuju is not a terrorist. He did not deserve to end up in ICU. What happened to him was police brutality, plain and simple. I accompanied him to the police station, stood with him in court, and visited him in hospital because that is what is basic humanity and decency, indeed what the law demands. Those who call that scavenging clearly misunderstand both leadership and the Constitution. But then again, that is not surprising given their records. The Constitution of Kenya 2010 is not negotiable, and neither is the dignity of every Kenyan citizen.

The man has been drinking. Then, a police officer sends him to the back seat of the car and drives it himself.
