As a mixed race person, I think it’s less that she wanted to mark white and more that she was sick of being told what she was or wasn’t. As someone who is equal parts Indian and German but tends to look paler, people telling me “there’s no way you’re half Indian” is frustrating.

Race is a social construct more than anything else. You can be black and Hispanic, black and Asian, black and Arabic but if you're black and white, people are only going to see the black, like yeah you're of a lighter complexion but you're not going to be seen as white, ever.

Because she was white. Just as much as she was black. Biracial people with parents of different races are equally of each race. An blasian isn't ant less Asian then they are black. The one drop rule is dumb.
