Thanos has this twisted reality he was trying to bring to life. So he figured if he could get all them stones, he could shape the Universe into exactly whatever he wanted it to be. My theory.

I think Thanos suffered from an extreme lack of imagination. Instead of getting rid of half of everyone, why not amplify the available resources and double them eliminating scarcity? With infinite power, why not make it so that so many resources are not required to sustain a civilization? I believe his fixation with eliminating half of everyone came from his association with "Death" as an anthropomorphic being. It was his offering to Death to kill or eliminate so many people.

They can still take this further if they wanted to with the stones for an incredible live action movie if you as me.

As a sidenote: the reason why the Mind Stone is the capstone of this process comes from the esoteric concept that "The ALL is Mind, the Universe is Mental." Given this paradigm, the Mind Stone would be essential as the element to execute the Snap as that it is linked directly to "The ALL." 😉
