It is excellent. Another I’ve heard of is “known clinically as tonic immobility”. As a former very young victim, I can testify to this.

Any male who has EVER said something utterly stupid to a women needs another male to do THIS to them… otherwise they will NEVER “get it”!

One time, I was surrounded by about 16 boys from a frat party, I was in room and they all came into it and locked the doors. What did I do? I acted as if they were all my brothers and showed only happiness, pretended that they were NOT here to hurt me, and talked about football, smiled a lot at them all, they didn't expect that, were young, and I slowly made my way to the door and got to my car. Trust me, it was survival instinct and this video is 100 percent right. Rape? Or be killed? Or talk the guy out of it? Realize you are dealing with a madman.

@sboumedi And also because, “Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them.”~Margaret Atwood Still holds true.

Yet they hear nothing unless a man says it...

Though reckless and dangerous, the act drove the point home far more powerfully than any calm explanation ever could. You can’t truly know what you’ll do in a life threatening situation until you’re actually in it. #NoMeanNo #NoDoesntMeanYes #NoToRape #NoToDomesticViolence

Also there is this idea that you know what's going on in their heads. As this clip shows the sudden change from nice guy to attacker is shocking and designed to catch you out Running away / fighting isn't often an option. Anyone can freeze even when trained in shocking situations

Many women I’m sure identify with this 🥺

It’s almost like it never existed before 1950. 😬 Or people never talked about it. 🙃

This is BRILLIANTLY done. And I SO LOVE that it is a man, demonstrating to another man what it is like for women to be on the receiving end of what twisted men do to women, EVERYDAY; 1/minute, in the US...

This is very powerful. Unless someone has been in the same circumstances as the victim, they can never truly understand how it feels like to be on the receiving end of abuse. Therefore, reserve your opinions if you cannot be supportive or helpful.

❤️ The problem may be bigger than you realise when you can't look yourself in the mirror and have empathy or sympathy for the victims who are trying to share their truths. May we never have to have the shared experience of the trauma simply to act and do better.

This demonstration is so true. On a personal note, when I endured an attempted rape, the man threatened to kill me and drove by our family home for three years, making a gesture of slitting my throat.I went silent, gained weight and dressed butch to avoid any possible attraction.

Pretty sad that it takes two men to explain to the men who just don’t understand. Rather than listen to the woman and her horryfying experience.

The BBC One miniseries Apple Tree Yard (2017), starring Emily Watson and Mark Bonnar (Shetland).

why is it always the question why didn't you fight back and not why did the rapist do it in the first place? is he stupid that he cannot understand the word no or the actions of rejection or discomfort? if so why is he not being taught things through torture?

I was robbed at knife point(Box Cutter) from behind to my neck. Your mind adjust to the situation.

Explains how women survive in DV relationships. Until the logic finally kicks in ( if it ever does) and they find a way to escape it.

In Eyes Wide Open she describes how the P Elite scare their victims and co-conspirators into silence They take one guy who kind of talked They tie each of his limbs to 4 different trucks Then the 4 trucks take off in 4 different directions Nobody speaks up again

idiot men can't imagine not fighting back to survive because they STILL think it's JUST SEX. OMG.

Ask a room full of women how many know of at least one victim of rape and nearly every hand will raise. Ask a room full of men how many sexual abusers they know & perhaps no hands will raise. Do they think, "No one I know would rape" or are they protecting them?

EXACTLY RIGHT. Thank you so much for that. Really, thank you!!!

Fight, flight, or fawn....when it comes to sexual assault, sometimes fawn is the difference between life or death.

I wonder why fighting back is considered validation that a person didn't consent, when fighting back is not always the body's fear response. Fighting back can make the attack worse, & what level must that fight back be in order to be considered proof the attack wasn't wanted?

When it happened to me I just layed there. He kept screaming at me to fight back, so I just stiffened even harder. He wanted to get off by terrifying me, I wouldn't give him the satisfaction.

Any one who's been there knows the truth of his - demonstration. Props.

Everyone knows about fight or flight but many aren't aware of freeze & fawn - Until you are in that position and your ANS kicks in, that is. All too easy to cast judgement from a comfy sofa...

Pompous, self righteous MAN! God love the guy who made the point for him!!!

Yep. Ra*ed repeating by a boyfriend in college. Didn't realize it was r*pe until I was in my 40's. The psychologist that diagnosed my CPTSD & PTSD called it r*pe by manipulation. I just let him do it because I was afraid he'd k*ll me. Same guy that held a gun to my head.

That was actually a great explanation. I wish that it were taught at school.

Excellent. It really is hitting it right on the bullseye. I wish I knew what show that clip is from.

@yoshi_sudarso People don’t realize the freeze and fawn response exists because sometimes your body and mind automatically assume it’s better to not fight back in case you lose

I was raped at 19yo, freshman year of college at my first college party. I drank too much. I woke up with him on top of me, and I froze and never did report it. I was ashamed and was sure I'd be blamed, so I just pretended it didn't happen. Years later, I did therapy.

That's the damn truth. I could feel it while he was describing it.

Natural selection: Females who flee from sexual aggression reproduce less than those who remain immobile. Sexually aggressive men also reproduce more. We must teach teenagers that being passive does not necessarily mean consent.
