Why do artists sell their favorite pieces? 🧩

So they can make more of them. There is no such thing as an artist who 'sells out'. Artists need materials to work with. Selling their art gives them material to work with. That simple.

If we didn't, we wouldn't sell anything. Every piece is my favorite till I make the next piece.....

Cash and they can often make it again.

As experience grows, so too do the next pieces become better than the ones before. An artist can see his mistakes better than anyone else, they know how to make improvements. It was their favourite piece so far.

Why would you sell the ones you weren't entirely happy with? The work represents YOU as an artist. Would you want to be known as mediocre?

Wait… so I just AutoCAD’d the whole thing, run the leaves through a CNC, give a light polish, snap the puzzle together, and called it sculpture and myself an "artist"? How’s that any different from the "AI artists” who prompt and then spend two hours processing the image?

Because art is meaningless without an audience to admire it.

Selling or giving our favorite pieces makes us have a stronger pull to do it again. Make something better. To make another favorite. It's about that feeling, recapturing it.
