The idea of labeling people as "Black" or "White" came with colonialism. Pre-colonial Africans identified by tribe, culture, land-not skin color. Ethiopians don't deny being Black; they just see "Ethiopian" before a Western label.

What's the definition of 'Black'? Who came up with it? In what context is it relevant? Ethiopians / Eritreans / Somalis might see more commonalities with people from Arabia than with people from Western or Southern Africa. Same with Europeans, which is why 🇮🇹/🇮🇪 were not seen as

1/ I am Ethiopian, and I have never heard anyone seriously claim that we are not Africans. While many Ethiopians identify themselves as Habesha, that cultural identity does not exclude them from being part of the African continent.

Why do ethnic Africans want to force people whose ancestors came from outside the continent to be ethnic Africans? Let them be arabs or whatever they choose to be

Sorry comrade need to give you history lession. Does are habesha people from old Abbasyinia. Ethiopians from biblical are bantu- Mende people from west, central east and south. Abbyainia changed its name to Ethiopia in the 60:s by Menelik. Regards we all African and diverse.

You have raised a great topic, about which I wrote in my book Some Ethiopians are brainwashed to believe that they’re not black, which causes them to treat darker Ethiopians differently. Luckily, with the power of social media and technology, they are waking up again! But more work and awareness are still needed to get rid of the existing colorism.

Don’t blur the storyline. You don’t understand what ‘Habesha’ means? It’s about identity, not skin color. For example, if someone asks, ‘Are you Fanti or Asante?’ would you just say, NO ‘I’m black?

Ethiopians from the northern part are Arab mixed, they are not pure Africans
