Why do the Artemis II astronauts keep calling their Orion spacecraft, "Integrity"? The crew chose this name for their home away from home because it "embodies the foundation of trust, respect, candor, and humility" of the teams behind the Artemis II mission.

That's a powerful choice for a name. It’s a great reminder that while we see the high-tech hardware, the real core of these missions is the character and collaboration of the people on the ground. "Integrity" feels like the perfect call sign for the ship bringing humans.

Integrity is the right name. Before any spacecraft reaches the Moon, people have to build the kind of trust strong enough to carry one another there and back. That is where every great mission truly begins.

A good name. A spirit of integrity is something the whole world needs more than ever right now.

I think it’s the believe and trust they have in the harbour house (Orion spacecraft) is what have made them name it “Integrity” But I’m still worried about the toilet 🚽 smell issue.

Naming the vehicle after a value they want to carry into orbit is exactly the kind of detail that makes a mission feel genuinely human.

But if our own planet’s leaders ran anything with that principle, maybe there’d be fewer wars and downed fighter jets to worry about.. Meanwhile on Earth, politics, business, and war are proof that the concept barely survives gravity.

@BridgetPhetasy Because it's an insult to Americans who now know Apollo was faked and now know this craft clearly isn't talking humans around the Moon. You can't livestream anything to prove it's real.

Love how the crew picked 'Integrity' it perfectly captures the trust and teamwork needed when you're millions of miles from home with no room for error.

Perfect name for a historic ship. They're halfway to the Moon and proving that human character is still the most important part of space exploration. Can’t wait for the far side photos tomorrow.

Orion is the capsule type name, Integrity is the name of that specific capsule. Like a b29 is a Superfortress, while the name of the Hiroshima plane was Enola Gay

Great choice. The name really fits the spirit of the mission and the people behind it.

‘Integrity’ really? Bold name choice for a spacecraft flying into the unknown. Let’s see if D hardware, software, and mission control live up to it. Names inspire, but trust is earned… especially millions of miles from home.

Apollo 11 had Columbia and Eagle. 13 had Odyssey and Aquarius. Artemis II has Integrity.
