I miss the OG freaky Tieflings... Gimme more freaky bug-like features, vestigial limbs, plant killing skin, rotting odor, etc.

Damn thats kinda insane. they went trough a shadowrun-like complete rearranging of their race and its not even mentionned in any core rulebook? Feels like it would be a pretty big deal!

It was so surprising looking at Haer'Dalis and learning that he's a tiefling.

Honestly I hate the type of fantasy where different species are just humans with one "unusual" feature. Like oh no, look out, that bloke has little horns, what a vile devilish hellspawn?

Imagine if you were a tiefling that just looked like a normal human but just smelled of brimstone as your tiefling trait. “That’s just Bob, he stinks all the time.” I’d consider the rope at that point.

Forgotten Realms lore is so funny. I was DMing for an Elf PC who was like 600 years old and reading the lore as I I went, we were both surprised to learn that they've lived through like 3 world-twisting calamities.

I’ve been dying for tiefling lore like this, where did you come across this info?! Thank you for this!

I actually have a lizardfolk Tiefling in a campaign I'm apart of. He was an experiment at creating a 'weapon' to use against his father's tribe after he was exiled, his mother was a contract devil and in spite of how he was raised, the moment his father fell ill- 1/2

It should be noted that the actual reason WHY this happened is because WoTC wanted to add tieflings to their main lineup of races in 4th edition and needed them to be more standardized for markering materials and artwork.

I heard so much different history about us that I didn’t what the retcon actually was. Also do ALL Tieflings come from Asmodaus or did his best friend/enemy Mephistopheles do the same ritual?

A most engaging history lesson. ⬛⬜

Very interesting

Peak Tiefling Noble

Wait so back then a Tiefling could be mistaken for an elf since u mentioned pointed ears?

I blame the dranei

this is really neat and enlightening thank you for the lore :>

I assume this is still the case but is influenced by how much of the abyssal/infernal energies have warped the tieflings soul/body & the source of said corruption. Now you have a variety of infernal/abyssal influential intensities & appearance. Same with the devils themselves.

The brimstone angels book series by Erin M. Evans is an D&D book series that focuses on teiflings and some of the history of teiflings.
