I believe the video you linked is spot on. When I found myself single around 2020, it was the first time in a long while that I'd been on my own. I was always taking care of someone else - paying bills, providing food, clothing, or fixing things. I was so wrapped up in supporting others that I completely lost touch with my own needs. But once I had the space to focus solely on myself, everything changed. I started doing what I wanted, going where I wanted to go. I became my own priority, and I saved a lot of money in the process. All in all, I loved it. I discovered an inner peace that I wasn't willing to give up easily. Until I meet someone who truly deserves my time, I'll keep focusing on myself. It's strange to say, but it feels liberating to be selfish. I'm now priority number one.
