Why does academia hate Great Man Theory?

They hate great man theory because there are no great academics. Great men are doers. Not observers. Not chroniclers. Doers.

@elonmusk @nayibbukele are great men!

courage. is the key

Perhaps because The Great Man theory doesn't include the Great Villain Theory, whereby the same great man is also a villain. Alexander, Napoleon or Caesar weren't saints..they all had an evil streak too. Or male centric although behind every great man, is a great woman/mother.

Because the entirety of the current ‘human shaming agenda’ is built upon its absence.

Academia is a group of mediocre individuals thinking they know it all

Because to admit great men exist is to admit they are not one.

An excellent article from 2016 by the 'great' @jeffreytucker "In his waning days, defeated and surrounded only by loyalists in his bunker, Hitler sought consolation from the literature he admired the most... Hitler turned to Goebbels, his trusted assistant, and asked for a final reading... from Thomas Carlyle"

Great question, great argument for the question, I want to try an answer: Academia became anti-masculine, eg hostile to men. Academia was conquered by forces that want to reverse human progress. If you think that thought even further one ends at something that can be described as a fight good vs bad. But maybe that is necessary, because if there are no evil ideas to collaborate against, what would be the motivation to collaborate? Infektion, die den Organismus nicht umbringen, machen ihn stärker. Danke für Deine Anregungen, sie sind brilliant!

You can't compare great creators like Mozart to great conquerors like Alexander, Napoleon and Caesar. Having a talent for murder and conquest makes you a great force for wickedness. It is ridiculous to judge people only on the scale of their exploits but ignore the morality.

O wow lady @LinaSeiche you’re very beautiful woman ❤️😻

No probably not.

@grok is this video AI?

The Incredibles was a great film with some excellent social commentary. At some stage there is a dialogue between superpower mum and superpower boy, Dash who says “Our powers make us special,” to which Helen (Mrs. Incredible) says, “Everyone is special, Dash”. Dash retorts back to her, “Which is another way of saying that no one is.”

Thank you 🙏 for sharing your thoughts - I find them most insightful and give more structure to my own. Since COVID I started thinking that democracy only comes around every four years. In between it can act like a dictatorship. For instance, Trump is not constrained by popular vote in the decisions he makes. Starmer is very unpopular, but it does not stop him in making decisions on behalf of the country. I also think the quote attached that I saved some years ago, aligns with your thoughts - and increasingly with mine.

They are blind to character?

Exceptionalism is enemy to conformity.

Agency above all

🧡🧡🧡🧡

The answer to your last question is "yes" and the fact that there are exceptionally gifted people does not contradict the notion that society as a whole make history, not crafty individuals.

better concentrate on how to build and create good future instead of looking what is bad

Late stage bitcoinism. Simping for authoritarians.

I am eager to hear your differentiated comment regarding the presidents mesures during Corona. Will a Great Man react like before or will he next time be greater? And if so, greater in which direction?
