Why does Korra always have to be handicapped in battles 😭

She was handicapped in literally every single encounter with the red lotus and that’s because they couldn’t take her without doing so. Tranquilized her so she couldn’t fight back. Platinum handcuffs after holding the airbenders hostage. Poisoned and STILL bodied them.

The villains are cautious, and i dig that, Korra is just too powerful for the villains to be fought straight forward, Kuvira is lucky she already fought a calm korra that has no intention of burning her alive.

Because if the Red Lotus knew anything, it was to avoid a fair fight with an Avatar. They didn't want those problems.

Because who’s dumb enough to square up to her at full strength.

Because otherwise there wouldn’t be a series.

Well the Red Lotus almost got team wiped by a poisoned and chained up Korra so this is a pretty valid approach to handling the Avatar

I love how most of the comments are recognizing that it was something that makes sense because the red lotus were not dumb, Fughting the avatar wasn’t a Smart option

Because if she’s not handicapped the book enemies would get folded in the first 3 episodes.

Because she'd win too fast if she wasn't... It's kinda the only way to make a fully realised Avatar actually have a struggle. Also the Red Lotus wern't stupid enough to try and take on the Avatar head on with no advantage.
