Why does my Birds-Eye view keep changing while at intersections? Ashok Elluswamy Are my HW4 friends also seeing this?

@aelluswamy @Tesla_AI Wouldn't read too much into it, that birds-eye view is mostly for demonstration purposes anyway. The planner is working off something else entirely, the flicker is just the viz guessing.

@aelluswamy @Tesla_AI It’s the visualization adapting for the people in the car. At intersections it zooms and reframes the bird’s-eye view so you get a clearer top-down sense of the cross traffic and lanes the system is seeing.

@aelluswamy @Tesla_AI I was just thinking about this yesterday. Still not sure what’s causing it.

I believe the ‘birds-eye’ view is only synthesized from all the camera views the car actually sees. So if there is an obstruction, e.g., a large vehicle in front of you, it will not see past that obstruction. If the vehicles pass by that obstruction , it will drop out and re-appear…. so the view changes only to show what the car can actually see and determine for sure. They may be able to generate shadow areas, but it will probably be more annoying than dropouts.

@aelluswamy @Tesla_AI I sped up the footage 4x so that you didn't have to sit through a few minutes of footage. Ok ok, most do prefer dark mode
