why does pasting text in Twitter lag?

this is a super weird issue. to reproduce: 1. click Post button 2. copy paste the letter "a" 3. hold down cmd/ctrl-v in the input

Chrome Devtools tells me that most of it's coming from System (children) - which is weird since i can't really know what exactly is causing it

i used react-scan initially ( but it showed that the source of the issue wasn't renders then, I used Chrome Devtools (cmd-shift-i on Mac) to profile the interaction to deep dive
