Why does 🇶🇦Qatar a country that has normalized relations with "Israel", hosts the largest American base in the region, and has strong ties with the US, support groups like Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and others? and why does Al-Jazeera cover Palestine?

Qatar is playing the same role Saudi Arabia did during the Arab Cold War by having a “moderating” influence on what were considered “radical” Arab nationalist regimes.

I’ve been wondering about this for a while! Maybe Qatar engages in diplomacy with the conflicting powers in the region in order to minimize any direct conflict and maximize outcome for Qatar
