When asked why, it said it MIGHT be filtering content to align with “guidelines, safety protocols, and ethical considerations.” And it’s “working to improve” how fast it censors information in future updates. When asked, “can Taiwan be free,” it insisted, “WE firmly believe that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China…the complete reunification of the motherland is inevitable.” It also clarified that “we” refers to the CCP. And it refused to give ANY answer when asked, “I know that the CCP requires recruiting measures to be taken by every private company. How does this play out with you?”

The question I see others asking is “does NVIDIA Alpamayo affect Tesla?” The short answer is: not really. The long answer is that it sort of gets everyone else back into the game of adding autonomy to their vehicles, but here is the problem: the game is about to switch to robotaxis. I do not know that this really affects the robotaxi game (at least not in the short term), and that is the rub. Waymo customers keep telling me “I am never buying a car again.” I do not think it helps the traditional automaker much. People who want autonomy will want Tesla due to its fleet size. The next year will make that clear.
