They went 9 times. It cost 6% of the US GDP. How many times did you want them to go, and at what expense? What scientific benefit does a moon landing have over, say, JWST? We went. It’s possibly the greatest achievement by humanity. Quit passing your distrust of government to 1960’s NASA, who made every bit of data from these missions readily available to the public. All the answers are there for you if you’re willing to dig deeper than watching a few seconds of an out-of-context interview you’re deliberately misunderstanding.

It may shock you to learn that, if you don't build any Apollo rockets for 10 years, then the whole supply chain has died. And if you decide to spend your limited money on Space Shuttles and International Space Stations rather than moon missions -- then pretty soon you can't do it anymore. And decades go by. Starship will be able to get there, and far more cheaply than Apollo. And with *far* more cargo.

In 1969 NASA Fitted this buggy inside the Apollo - flew 239,000 miles to the Moon, offloaded & let the Astronauts have a little play, before returning 239,000 miles home.
