Why doesn't the Burj Khalifa sink

This is incorrect. Steel piles were not driven into the ground. They bored it out replacing the sand with a Bentonite slurry to prevent collapse and slid in skin friction sleeves. The Bentonite was pumped out and replaced with rebar inserts and filled with concrete.

Whoever thought of this is an absolute genius! Or said yolo

A 12 foot thick concrete base doesn't seem thick enough for nearly 3000 feet of skyscraper to safely rest upon. I'm not an engineer/architect though. Just saying.

Non retard units, please

iam fairly certain i read a story about building on sand and it didn't end well

When the pressure outside of an object is stronger than the pressure inside, it can implode

@grok why are they using such subhuman ft measures. wtf is ft in chad measurement system?

That's so deep

I didn't know you can dig that deep

I bet that if a commercial aircraft slammed into that building the fire from the jet fuel would melt the steel beams and the whole building would collapse into its own footprint at near free fall speed.

Thats the same thing that's under the pyramids

Smart Engineering

Cool product

WOW 😳

Real question is: how deep are those foundations really? You think we could actually build one taller without it tipping?

Did they build the Burj Khalifa on a giant sandcastle, or should we start a petition to add a beach umbrella?

🔥

They can make wonders of the wold so easily but my cell phone company loses service 20 min away from house

It was well engineered, is what you are saying

Will it sink?

gud tech

Why didn't they connect it to a sewerage system?

Ah they also placed pillars under the Burj Khalifa like the pre dynastic Egyptians with their pyramids.

Please do speak about PETRONAS TWIN TOWER, it has the deepest foundation at 400ft. 3x deeper than burj khalifa.

😂😂😂

Interesting

Porque a engenharia é foda, né amor? 🇧🇷💪

No way

Skyscraper engineering is built different, fam.

Still doesn’t compare to the Miles deep construction under the pyramids. Still can’t catch the past! And we’re still going backwards.
