Entertainment for its own sake doesn’t promote any particular agenda.

I seem to recall it mentioned that a lot of the Looney Tunes episodes were primarily done for adult audiences, whereas nowadays cartoons seem to have the stigma of being for kids. Because of this a lot of jokes were intended for adults and thus hit a more adult audience.
