Why don't we have an autobahn here in the US?

Idk but I can guarantee there'd be a Prius in the left lane going 55.

Because US has too many morons who feel it is their birthright to drive 45 in the left lane...

A serious lack of personal responsibility amplified by lawyers and a subculture that's hell-bent on being victims.

1. Our roads aren't maintained and already beat the crap out of vehicles, increasing the speed to 200mph would cause major accidents because of the roads. 2. We have "left lane campers" that would cause horrible accidents. 3. We have people that don't look before trying to merge.

too much road rage from certain demographics

We do, it’s the U.S. interstate system. The main difference is we have idiots who think they can drive the speed limit in the left hand lane.

Because some moron would insist on driving 55 in the left lane.

Too many people camping the left lane. Would never work with all of the idiots on the road

Roads in Germany can sustain 150mph. In the US they have lots of bumps and cars would literally takeoff if they hit one at that speed. The roads are not built to the same strict German standards. Also in the US, a golden retriever can get a license if they pass the test.

I lived in Germany and I’m a big fan of the Autobahn. It would be a tough sell here for two reasons. 1-it is crucial that slow cars stay right except to pass. 2-when there’s a high speed crash, it can shut down the road for many, many hours. We don’t have the discipline.
