People are going hungry not because of lack of available food but because of the greed of capitalists.

In European countries there are lemon, orange, apple, olive trees in residential areas. In Italy there were fig trees everywhere and those figs were delicious. 🤤

They planted male trees specifically and that's a big reason people with pollen allergies struggle every spring. Municipal fruit and nut trees and municipal composting please

In Morocco, the trees that line the streets are either citrus or date trees. There are people who take care of the trees as a job, people eat the fruit when the trees are producing and sometimes gather the fruit and take it to the souk (outdoor market) to sell. No one cries foul.

Because we don’t have a scarcity problem. We have a GREEDY problem. We have the resources to feed every human on this planet, but choose not to if we can’t make a profit. It’s all about the money, not the lives.

Fruit trees and (edible) ornamentals in the landscaping (cabbage, peppers, etc.). It’s 100% a wasted opportunity and cities should absolutely be looking into ways to do this.

Fruit trees need constant care and attention to provide good yields. Americans in general have no idea how much labor and effort goes into agriculture, or how hard it is for a neophyte to get a good yield of anything from a farm.
