And a lot of those concrete and stone buildings are built in earthquake zones, which is better suited to wooden structures.

Because Europe for long time had cheap feudal labour. Now everyone switches to stick frames or CLT and richest countries like Scandinavians or Swiss are on the front line.

American homes are cheap to construct and flimsy, as is demonstrated during a slight breeze or a drop of rain.

The answer is government overreach and bureaucracy creating cumbersome building codes written by people without an engineering degree and who have never built anything in their life.

How disingenuous is this? This is someone’s château on the outskirts of a city. It cost as much to do these renovations as two or three American homes.

This is apples to watermelons. Renovating a decades old building with an internal steel skeleton is nothing like new construction there or here. You could remove the entire old building and the renovation would be fine. It's completely structurally independent of the old.

There are all kinds of house construction methods used in Europe, including the wooden frame method shown in this video. Most European homes will have a mix of materials, including brick, concrete, steel, and/or wood.
