why everyone hates YC companies
60 Yorum

fyi just because some yc founders are shitty doesn't mean the entire batch is

@sistilli So much slop 🤮

slopocalypse

@sistilli this is so good need more views

appreciate u

@sistilli lol when the product for cheaters was the honest one 😂

on god so much more respect for @im_roy_lee than 50% of YC founders i meet

@sistilli @im_roy_lee It's kinda wild out there, but I have a feeling that by end of this year a lot of the facade will crumble the few teams that really grinded to build amazing experiences for their users will start pulling ahead

@sistilli a lot of the crypto grift just transitioned to AI grift

@sistilli I can only wait for the “dudE is jUst mAD bEcauSe he dIDn’T Get intO Yc” comments

they already started on Youtube 😂

@sistilli i approve this video and Okara is trash

😂 the deb seal of approval

@sistilli hahaha and as for ai cmo, been in GTM for 10 years and it doesn’t work, any better than a skill with browser use

💀

I mean... revenue is revenue. A lot of so called "AI wrappers" are getting funded, but if the ARR goes up then so be it. Cursor started like that, it was just vs code with a chat with an API call on the side, now at 2B ARR and rising. Krea is a image & video model wrapper, again with a ton of revenue. If you think about it beforw LLMs startups were database wrappers or sth. If they make money they make money, it means that people find value in them, period.

not really debating revenue being revenue, more-so debating the shady shit companies do to inflate themselves/ get that revenue, and why that leads to people having a negative perception of them

@sistilli Was at a party in SF and this dude said most YC companies are garbage. Everyone nodded. People see it and don't event want to try it. It pollutes their system.

@sistilli This is spot on but I wish you woulda dropped this 3 years ago! The Content is good ma. Do more.

@sistilli so valid. took 2 minutes of using okara to realise spawning a team + skills in claude code is 10x better.

hey atleast it replaces $160k of value right

@sistilli every CMO should just quit and join the permanent underclass it’s so over 😂

first programers, now CMOs. what next? Plumbers?

@sistilli wow, you got a subscriber. I had to login to youtube, find this video and subscribe.

goddamn appreciate that man

@sistilli probably bc they make us feel like slackers 😂

yeah if I'm not actively posting misleading things on my landing page I feel like I haven't grinded enough for the day

@sistilli 10/10 video

I don't think everyone hates YC companies. Most never become visible enough to be loved or hated. What has changed is the focus. The program used to bet heavily on the founder. their drive, vision, and long-term potential. Today, it increasingly prioritizes short-to-medium-term return potential. The central question has shifted from “Can this founder build something truly great?” to “Can this company deliver an attractive multiple in 5–7 years? USING AI”

@sistilli This is better than The Code Report

🫶

@sistilli Spot on man. You summarized my feelings perfectly. The big reset can’t come soon enough

the big reset is a scary term ngl

@sistilli refreshingly honest take

@sistilli Love it!!!

@_cmdz_ appreciate you

@sistilli I’m surprised that even your launch would get such poor visibility. I know your from Ig. I had this perception that audience = visibility = users

@_cmdz_ haha well, I built a following on making fun of AI and companies, so it's no surprise my audience isn't exactly enthused when I try to promote my own 😂

@sistilli haha, gotta remove luddite from followers now. Are you selling shirts? I'm looking for it.

@sistilli Yeah, modern startups mostly exist to hype themselves and dupe braindead VCs into giving them money until they can toss the bag to someone else

@sistilli I feel like some 2% shitty founders who think yc is like a summer school don't represent yc itself, majority of yc batch make less noise and stay focused on their business

@sistilli Right on Though Cluely and @a16z is far worse Cluely lied on ARR

@sistilli banger one, Anthony. immediate follow.

@sistilli This is a great vid. I lol'ed. I think that comment on Okara sums up B2B SaaS in general - you're just paying for the convenience. In a post claude code world, B2B SaaS dev tool companies should not target other B2B SaaS companies as users.

@sistilli 100% agree w all ur points, i also wrote about this recently, would be curious to hear ur thoughts

@sistilli This is spot on 😂.

@sistilli The average person on the street has probably never even heard of YC.

@sistilli I thought about Okara, then I immediately realized SEO and GEO take time regardless. It’s a marathon not a sprint. Google etc doesn’t care.

but what if ai could search reddit and tell u to hurry up cause your competitors are already ranking? /s

@sistilli I think there’s value in it but unless your site is well established in search engines realm, then the strategy won’t reflect quickly anyways

true

@sistilli Great video (don’t want my comments to take away from that!)

@sistilli Maybe because of @garrytan

@sistilli most people don't care about YC companies tbh

just tpot

@sistilli love this video. true true

@sistilli I'm very confused about the future lol

@sistilli The hardest time to make a startup is when everybody can, because the true scarcity has always been meaningful visibility, not accessibility.

@sistilli Just earned a follow. Nice vid.

@sistilli banger.
