Yeah that so true, I have so many unfinished books, some a book have one good idea that it could’ve been a blog post but they filled in a book. Just get the main point and move on.

the guilt is the mistake, not the quitting

You gotta know when to walk away... even from a book.

A great reader knows finishing a bad book is not discipline. It’s letting sunk cost choose what you read next.

That is the ultimate flex. When a book stops serving the mission, dropping it takes more discipline than finishing it out of guilt.

Three chapters in I usually have the idea I came for. The rest is the length a publisher wanted.

Quitting the wrong book is how you find the right one.

The right book at the right time can reopen a door in you.

Finishing is a poor proxy for learning. Quit when the book stops changing your questions, then carry the useful idea into a decision or experiment.

quitting a bad book is just sunk cost training with nicer fonts

100 pages minus your age. Is the difference how many pages you read to give the book a chance?
