Why is the same intensity not visible when the political establishment they seem comfortable with — particularly ** Aam Aadmi Party and #Congress** — is in the line of fire? Multiple media interactions and the political developments around the earlier protests have already shown that mainstream political parties have tried to associate themselves with, influence or claim space around this movement. #Congress leaders openly joined the political narrative around the protests, while #AAP and #Congress themselves publicly clashed over who was supporting or attempting to appropriate the movement. If the movement is genuinely about grieving families and deceased students, then their photographs, memories and dignity should be treated with the utmost respect. **Turning the death of a student into political theatre, slogans, social-media content or protest symbolism is not activism. It is exploitation of grief.** A deceased student's photograph is not a prop. A grieving family is not a political weapon. And students are not foot soldiers for anybody's political agenda. I would find it impossible to accept that a movement genuinely driven by concern for students could celebrate, party or behave frivolously around the same issue immediately after a protest involving the death of students. **If such visuals and conduct occurred, they deserve condemnation irrespective of which political camp is responsible.** The standard must be the same for everyone. **Question #BJP. Question #Congress. Question #AAP. Question #CJP. Question every #politician, #activist and #influencer.** That is what integrity looks like. Selective outrage is not activism. Political convenience is not student welfare. Rules should be flexible enough to understand the situation of students and provide required help, support and motivate them to bring back to normal. If #IITs can’t find solution then who will?

A big question is, do we lack empathy in our culture? If our culture has empathy, then people rising from it to higher positions must carry that empathy with them. Isn't it? A student lost his father, and the people working with the organization showed no empathy with him. Instead, they made his life so difficult that he decided to kill himself. Something is terribly wrong.
