Why I don’t trust primary care physicians:

I’d encourage you to work on your wording. You’re vilifying an entire segment of the professional world that are often doing the best they can within a dysfunctional system. There are lots of high value PCPs who are employed and your perceived shortcomings are not a failure of their character but the system they are forced to work within.

A lot to take in here, don’t agree with some things, but what I would recommend is: be as good a patient as Nick is. He is taking his health super serious. Man, what I wouldn’t give to have even half of my patients as invested in personal health as Nick. Absolutely show up to your Dr appointment with questions. Use AI, google (is that still a thing?), listen to the influencer de jour. for goodness sake, take your health serious and push your doctor or care provider. It’s exhausting trying to help people that don’t care about their health. like Nick has posted about struggling to find employees that care about their quality of work, it’s also challenging to care for A lot of people that don’t care about their health. Challenge is I can’t just fire people. A lot of my patients may not care about doing a good job with their health, but I believe it’s my duty to try and care for them. Keep pushing people to care about their health Nick.

Monitoring bloodwork obsessively is not how you prevent a heart attack. That’s why they don’t order them on demand for you. Because it wastes time and resources and is completely unnecessary.

@pgipe This dude has such Hubris lol. Thinks he knows so much about everything. He’s a grade A grifter. Probably being paid

Don’t know what you are talking about. Most pcp do full blood work yearly for pts.

Oh boy, now he's got a mic and camera. Fundamental mismatch between concierge docs and PCPs: Demand for PCPs >supply in the general population. Most people stress over costs (you & I don't), so it's symptom-first care. Patients should demand preventative care. Docs will adapt.

Agreed. It’s almost like you go to the doctor and see which medication or test you qualify for. If you don’t qualify for a medication or test there is nothing for them to do. But it’s not as if the doctors are malicuous or incapable and I hate to hear them being made the villain. Most doctors work for hospitals and the hospitals are beholden to the federal government. The bottom line is the government has regulatory capture - checkmate. The doctors are entirely capable. To win in life : 1) stop eating shit - no sugar, no flour, no processed food 2) stop being a bum - don’t smoke, vape, or drink alcohol. 3) prioritize sleep 4) exercise - both cardio and strength 5) brush your teeth 6) if your friends are losers ditch them. Be better to have no friends than friends who bring you down.

Rythm blood tests are $100 a month. Covers major hormones and lipid profile. That said, seeing a pcp was the only way I discovered I had a tumor in my head so shoutout to good doctors.

I agree 💯 there is no health care in America - only sick care. AI will be a huge help. Right now, with Whoop Advanced Labs and Function Health you can easily systematize the blood work, have it analyzed by a clinician, and in Whoops case, monitor how it affects your daily health metrics. You can download your results and upload into Grok or Claude and get a detailed analysis and work plan to improve certain metrics. For example, my fasting glucose is on the high side. Rather than sleepwalk into diabetes, I can take simple steps, like taking more steps, to mitigate the risks before I develop a chronic disease. It’s only going to get better. And quickly. As long as the establishment doesn’t scupper it because they stand to lose so much.

Dude stfu grifter

My last PCP visit: Dr: hey man your A1C levels have dropped significantly but you’re only down like 5 lbs what have you been doing Me: bro I’ve been eating clean and lifting 4x a week and doing TRT and peptides to help with recovery and down 10% bf Dr: 😡 dude be careful you might get a heart attack and cancer Me: 😑

Most primary care physicians shouldn't be allowed to practice.

I can't think of one person I know who has died that would have had their life saved by what you're mentioning. Waste of money but that's my opinion

Do your bloodwork once a year! Are people really still taking medical advice from doctors and not doing their own custom research on their unique bodies? If you want to stay alive a long time then do the work and make it fun.

I felt the same way, and then I found my current PCP, who actually pays attention to me. This is rare because most of my other doctors treated me as just another appointment. They didn’t care about my symptoms, my thoughts, or my research / things I looked up on my own. My current doctor actually encouraged me to take blood tests. I'm excited to go back to him on Friday to see if we can get a full blood panel done, as it’s been a while since our last test. Although he doesn't have much time for appointments—we only have 15-minute sessions—I get to study the blood test results. Ultimately, your doctor is not in charge of your health; I am. I need to make sure I understand what's coming in. This is part of how I got healthy; I lost 50 pounds. It's cool that they have a preventative doctor, too, which is something I might have to look into in the future.

I got a primary last year for the first time and it’s an absolute joke. Didn’t check me at all at my yearly just talked to me for 5 minutes and did iron and blood. They just refer you to a specialist for any issue. It’s a ways of time and money

I’ve been using function health for these blood tests..

After you educated me on this during our golf outing. I made sure to order a full panel of bloodwork at my next physical. And my PCP pushed back and asked me a ton of questions. But finally relented after I told him I was telling him, not asking him. This is a must for folks to do.

Agreed And stop supporting Peter Attia

I use @function and it’s been great!

Let me help you out. Medicine is like this because schmucks like you keep paying it. What, do you think they’re going to change out of the goodness of their hearts? Welcome to capitalism. Hope this helps.

$3,000 a month for health insurance?! @JoinCrowdHealth fixes this.

We figured it at for you already

Anytime someone says “root causes” I immediately tune them out, all that means is “I’ve never studied medicine a day in my life and am just a sheep who listens to grifting online influencers who are scamming me with their get rich quick schemes”

Who is your concierge doctor?

What about all the PCPs who are in favor of regular bloodwork? Crazy to lump everyone together because it’s trendy to hate on health care providers.

The concierge doctor specializes in severe cases of retardation.

This is insane. You can hire the best doctors in Malaysia for hundreds of dollars with no insurance.

Ur literally completely wrong 😂😂😂😂 Amazing dunning-Kruger at work here

Strong language. If only you knew half as much as you pretend to know about half as many subjects. You’re a fraud and it’s starting to show through.

Primary care pediatrician here. The system is broken but there are a lot of good docs out there. We think. Read my book. Chris Williamson did and he likes it.

Do you rely on your life insurance or homeownership insurance or auto insurance providers to tell you how to make better choices in life, as a homeowner or as a driver?

I quit my PCP 4 years ago…done with that model! Now I get my bloodwork done quarterly and I review with my doctor for an hour. I can count the people I know that do this on one hand.

This is quite a hot take. Ex PCP here where many households earn less than you spend on healthcare, but with greater life expectancy and where heart disease is no longer #1. Where is the evidence connecting all these blood tests in the genuinely asymptomatic with outcomes?
