Kibaki, by the time he handed over to Uhuru, of his 1 trillion and 2 trillion of debt, 18 shillings was going to debt payment. He had 72 shillings that was actively running government operations, which is why people say Kibaki’s budget was debt-free. When Uhuru handed over to Ruto, 65 shillings was going to debt payments. The government started borrowing for recurrent expenditure, no more for development and that is illegal in our laws. Now, where we are this year, 92 shillings of every 100 is going to the payment of debt. We are dying #CitizenSundayLive

He warned that if these countries demand repayment, the artificially maintained exchange rate of 280 rupees per dollar could surpass 400. Declining exports, heavy debt, & reliance on foreign aid have put Pakistan’s economic stability at serious risk.
