@Nat_Numeracy I learnt more about Mathematics in the workplace than I ever did at school. I was hopeless at it in school. In the workplace maths had meaning and purpose. It gave me ideas, reasons and solutions. At school it always felt pointless, meaningless & utterly boring.

@Nat_Numeracy Thank you. This is badly needed. It makes me cross when people giggle about 'being rubbish at maths' as if it's a charming quirk, not a life-limiting handicap 😡😡😡.

@Nat_Numeracy I think we joke because our teachers and others humiliated us.

@Nat_Numeracy I genuinely have an inability to manage basic numerology. I went through merry hell at school because I could not do maths no matter how hard I tried and no matter how much they punished me. I still have to count on my fingers unless I have a calculator.

@Nat_Numeracy That's not so much a maths problem more an ambiguity problem You would need to read the wording in the T&C on the voucher because logically 50% off plus an extra 20% off is clearly 70% off =£30 50% off then 20% is different applied separately in either order is the same =£40

@Nat_Numeracy At 46 I’m 3 weeks away from finishing level 1 & 2 functional skills. Numbers aren’t naturally easy for me, but it’d sooo good to be able to understand it - if only a little lol

@Nat_Numeracy Horses for courses...some people can't draw or write stories but are good at maths and puzzles so society traditionally has considered them intelligent...I think that may be the driver for push back on maths

@Nat_Numeracy Very well said. Lots of resources available to help people, not just online but free community based courses for adults to improve their skills. It would help stop people getting caught out with bad deals and scams too. @carolvorders
