Why is no one talking about this? Abuja literally has a free metro. Maybe the only free train in Africa.

The police officer should be permanently removed from all trains. He’s ill-mannered. He should be transferred to elsewhere, away from civilisation. He shouldn’t be on that train. Not with that attitude. Not with that temperament. If you can’t speak to the public with basic respect, you don’t get to police the public. Remove him from that route. Pull him off public-facing duties. Send him for retraining, supervision, assessment. Because “authority” isn’t a licence to be ill-mannered. It’s a test of character under pressure. A uniform doesn’t excuse rudeness. It makes it louder. If he can’t act like a professional in civilisation, move him somewhere his manners won’t be a public problem. cc @PoliceNG @realFFK @lindaikeji @ARISEtv @ruffydfire @AdeolaFayehun @seunokin @pshegs @ShehuSani @channelstv @SaharaReporters

Goes to show how only bad news makes the headlines in Nigeria. I discovered the metro last month, and I had been in Abuja the entire year and never heard of it. It covers the length and breadth of the city. It's fast, air-conditioned, and very organized, no touting, no African⏲️

No Name tag. Just power tripping and looking for an excuse to extort the guy. Besides that, there’s no reason for him to have his gun on display.

The officer ruined the video. He couldn't refrain from his greed and extortion tactics even with a camera on his face. Disgrace to the uniform and country. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Took it last week. I made sure to book an afternoon flight so I meet up. Free, comfortable ride to town. Saved me minimum 20k Uber fare.

Abuja has been doing this for long not today. I remember going to kaduna from Abuja it was completely free during celebrations like Eid Celebration, and Christmas Celebration regardless of your religion.

The airport rail link is free because nobody would pay to use it—most people traveling to the airport already have the means to get there (e.g., private cars or taxis). We have instead requested that the Metro line be extended to areas like Kubwa, Gwagwalada, Suleja/Zuba, and Kuje so that the poor can benefit from affordable public transport. People going to the airport do not necessarily need such subsidized services.

The metro rail is a prime example of how NOT to build a public transport system. It starts & connects to nowhere anyone wants to go. The costs of getting to the metro in CBD already takes you to the airport. From the airport, you are about N7k away from the train pickup.

It’s been on for about 2 years, even before Buhari left office. It’s actually very smooth AC ride, & a lot of people use it. Only little limitation is where the train will stop may need you to spend more money to come out and get to your destination. Still very nice.

I knew through someone sometimes last year. I took it when I was in Abuja around October this year. People who live around Kagini/Deede and few other places enjoy this to the city. So far time is not really their problem.
