NHL saw the league as competition rather than a giant opportunity to showcase the game to a new market. Huge missed opportunity to grow the sport in areas where an ice sport is too foreign and costs are too high.

Because the NHL didn’t like the fact you could watch great hockey for $11 a ticket

I loved it. I remember one issue was that most teams didn't own the buildings and were getting raked on charges. Would love a NHL-sponsored 4v4 summer league, especially since most teams now own their arenas...

I was at a San Diego Gulls AHL game last week and mentioned that San Diego had a Roller Hockey team called the "Barracuda" in that same league.

I was a huge fan of the Vancouver Voodoo and the Oakland Skates. @NHL should have backed the league.

Great memory. FYI I was the PAA voice of the Voodoo. You can hear me announce the goal. ☺️ A little keepsake I still have.

The VooDoo’s best player was Happy Gilmore’s favorite player: Terry O’Reilly, The Tasmanian Devil (#iykyk)
